The planets

We went for our first hike in Zurich today - along the Planetenweg on Uetliberg.

It was a rainy and cold day, but we were prepared for it, so enjoyed the walk. Especially having a nice hot tea at the end!

Since we are going on a 5-day walk in Iceland later this summer, we need to get some training in, so are starting with nice easy walks around Zurich. The plan is to build up to longer and steeper ones - we'll see if that happens. Also, we saw this as a good opportunity to test out our rain gear, and see if we can survive the cold rain (apparently it is cold and rainy in Iceland - and currently also ashy).

Walking along the planetenweg was fun, looking out for all the planets. We missed a bunch of the inner planets (including earth) by taking the wrong detour but caught up with them again at venus. It's quite amazing seeing the planets in proportion to each other. As well as feeling the proportional distances between them.

  1. You can keep the wetness... but the trail looks like fun. (I was going to "follow" but you've got it disabled...?)
